Saving Daisies – Free and Accessible Spay/Neuter Initiative

Executive Summary

Saving Daisies is an animal organization based in Los Angeles, CA founded with a vision to advocate for cats, dogs, rescue organizations in need, provide resources for pet parents and promote spay and neuter initiatives. Run by husband, wife and pup Daisy, we operate out of our home fostering as many cats as we can fit. We recognize the challenges that pet parents face, from accessing reliable information on pet care to finding resources for their beloved companions’ well-being. We are committed to addressing the issue of pet homelessness through our foster program, ensuring that animals in our care receive the love, attention, and medical support they deserve until they find their forever homes. Saving Daisies is a self-funded nonprofit organization with a bigger dream of making spaying and neutering free and accessible for all. With a mission of partnering with mobile veterinary clinics, we aim to combat the severe pet overpopulation crisis by eliminating financial barriers to these essential procedures. Our goal for 2025 is to collect grants to fund spaying and neutering services for cats in need to reduce shelter overcrowding and overpopulation on the streets.

Statement of Need

A single unfixed cat and her offspring can produce over 420,000 kittens in just seven years, contributing to overcrowded shelters and high euthanasia rates. In Southern California, thousands of homeless and unwanted animals suffer due to the lack of accessible spay/neuter services. The cost of surgery is a significant barrier for many pet owners and rescuers, leading to unplanned litters and increased strain on local shelters. By providing free spay/neuter services, Saving Daisies addresses the root cause of pet overpopulation, reducing the number of animals entering shelters and ensuring healthier communities for pets and people alike.

Project Description

Saving Daisies will collaborate with established mobile veterinary clinics to sponsor free spay/neuter services in underserved communities throughout Southern California. Our approach eliminates financial and logistical barriers, bringing these services directly to those who need them most.

  • Cost & Impact: Each clinic day costs $4,000 and can fix 36 animals. Our 2025 goal is to raise funds to fix at least 100 animals, with expansion as funding increases.
  • Education & Outreach: We will provide educational materials on the benefits of spaying and neutering, empowering pet owners to make responsible decisions for their animals.
  • Sustainability Plan: As we build donor and grant support, we will scale up operations to offer more clinic days and expand outreach efforts.

Budget & Funding Request

We are seeking grant funding to cover the direct costs of spay/neuter clinic days. Our funding request includes:

  • $4,000 per clinic day, covering veterinary staff, medical supplies, and operational costs.
  • Initial goal: $12,000 to fund three clinic days, fixing approximately 108 animals.
  • Expanded goal: $40,000+ to significantly increase our capacity and impact over time.

Conclusion

Saving Daisies is committed to ending pet overpopulation through free and accessible spay/neuter services. With grant funding, we can provide immediate relief to shelters and communities, preventing thousands of unwanted litters and ensuring a healthier future for pets. We invite you to join us in this mission and help make spaying and neutering a reality for all.

We appreciate your consideration and look forward to the opportunity to collaborate in saving lives and making a lasting impact.
